Have you ever heard the saying ‘one day I will look back on this and laugh?’ Why not laugh now? I was thinking of many times in sales and life where my thoughts and relationship breakdowns were far from feeling like a laughing matter. When I lost a big sale – that I had been counting on. When a commitment is broken or trust is damaged. When I said something I later regretted in the heat of the moment – or someone said something to me in the heat of their moment. How about you?
Is there an elephant in your room with someone or a situation in your life right now? A customer, a friend, a family member, the competition, your boss, your workplace, your spouse? Most breakdowns between teams and human beings don’t happen when we are communicating too much – it is that we are not communicating enough. Think about this. Our mind and thoughts begin to run wild during the silent spaces.
The solution? I WILL LAUGH AT THE WORLD
As I was reading ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World,’ I came across this from Og Mandino:
“And how can I laugh when confronted with man or deed which offends me so as to bring forth my tears or my curses? Four words I will train myself to say until they become a habit so strong that immediately they will appear in my mind whenever good humor threatens to depart from me…”
“These four words are: This too shall pass!”
HABIT 7: THE POWER OF LAUGHTER! Lighten Up..Let it Go!
In scroll 7, “The Greatest Salesman in the World:” The power of mastering humor, letting go of taking situations so seriously is key. Beware of times that we sabotage ourself – and others when our thoughts about others becomes negative.
What I have learned from studying, teaching, and living the power of my focus on laughter:
- When I am stressed, I ask myself: will this matter 1 year from today? If not, let it go!
- I can choose to focus on what I can control – and let go of everything else.
- Communication is key. I have never regretted speaking up, I have always regretted missed opportunities.
- Am I listening, and am I putting myself into someone else’s world (or shoes) when they are not receptive to me or my ideas?
- What about this situation could I be missing and change right now?
I think of you as a success minded friend, and I am so excited and passionate about sharing my mission with you: to work with sales and success driven stars to crush their results so they can live a life of PEACE and leave a life of STRESS – to be the BEST version of THEMSELF!
